Local Elections Matter!
Please Vote on Election Day, November 7th!

We get the chance to let our voices be heard at the ballot box. It might not feel very impactful when you’re checking the name or party of your choice, but the importance of casting your vote can’t be understated. Elections allow citizens to keep the administration accountable, and to weigh in on the direction and prioritization of policy. Getting informed and voting is one of the best ways to engage as a citizen.

Long Beach

NCC officers met with Kristen Doulos, Parks & Rec. Director, via zoom to recap the summer season. Signage, beach stickers, staffing and enforcement were all discussed.

The restoration plantings done are doing well and another date is being coordinated with Cornell Cooperative to continue planting and will hopefully be scheduled sometime in October on a weekday around 3-4 PM. Volunteers will be needed! We also requested a discussion with Cornell on the broader scope of a possible coastal resiliency project at Long Beach. Stay tuned…

The NCC is grateful for Kristen’s hard work and attention to our concerns.

Trout Pond Clean Up

October 14 • 9 AM

Help Remove the Invasive Species in the Pond.

Volunteers are asked to join the Town of Southampton’s Parks & Rec. Department and Councilman Tommy John Schiavoni to help clean up Trout Pond’s invasive species, Cabomba caroliniana, that is overtaking the pond. This event will be similar to the last cleanup done in September 2022. Click here to learn more.

The Parks & Recreation Dept. will supply rakes to pull up the invasive plants and dispose of them. Kayaks are helpful along with rakes and gloves if you have them. Some volunteers wore wet suits as well. This event was very successful in eliminating invasive plants. Stay as long as you can.

Community Service hours given to students who participate.
